ORGANIZERS TO HOLD DOWNTOWN ALL DAY FITNESS EVENT ON JANUARY 11TH, 2019 AS PART OF NEW PROGRAM LAUNCH

Downtown Pittsburgh, PA UNITED STATES, January 11th, 2019 The Gymnasium in Energy Innovation Center (Formerly the Connelly Skills Learning Center) will now be home to a new fitness facility that, thanks to a grant from Highmark Foundation, includes a community fitness and diet support component.
A VIP Open House will take place Saturday, January 11th from 10am to 4pm.

A new fitness experience is coming to life in the Pittsburgh area, and thanks to a grant from Highmark Foundation in partnership with the Family Life Center Inc., it will be able to provide subsidized classes and dietary coaching for community members. The facility will feature High Intensity Interval Training, group fitness classes and provide educational content to help attract and engage community participation.

“Our Plan was to create a fitness experience that supports thecommunity and fills the void of dietary support, which manycommunity members don’t have access to,” said Mark Lay,Program Manager. “A huge part of taking care of yourself is howyou eat, and that part is normally left out of the gym experience. We aim to bridge the gap.”

The program, called “The Three Rivers Fitness Care Program” will serve the Pittsburgh and Beaver Valleyareas, and will hold daily classes with free parking and easy bus-line access.

“One unique aspect of our program is that it is supported by both grant funding, and a for profit component that will ensure long term sustainability,” said Lay. “By putting together people from all walks of life in a highly collaborative fitness setting, everyone can be healthy.

The Program will hold an Open House at the facility downtown on Saturday, January 11th and will featureVIP’s from The Pittsburgh Steelers as well as a host of other local celebrities. Food and drinks will be provided all day, along with fitness demos and dietarycoaching sessions. “We encourage people to come down to have fun and find out what this program has to offer,” said Lay.
